There are two main options for spare tires that you'll find in most new vehicles on the market right now. The compact temporary is a smaller sized tire that can only be driven on for a short while. The full-size spare is a typical sized tire for that specific make and model.

Storage for these two tires is very different. You'll find a compact spare in a trunk compartment or stowed under the vehicle. The full-size spare is something that is often mounted to the outside or back of the vehicle.

If you incur damage to either of these spare tires, make sure that you get them replaced or serviced right away by a professional. Just because you had a flat right now, doesn't mean that you won't have another one while you're driving on a spare tire.
